Matthew Walker started ESWsoftware back in 1998 as a small web design business called "Electric Sheep Web". The name comes from a science fiction novel by Philip K Dick, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? This novel was later adapted into the film, Blade Runner. Electric Sheep Web used the pictured sheep as its mascot for several years. This inquisitive character was photographed on a grassy hillside near Nelson.

Today the business specializes in web applications and tools for Adobe ColdFusion servers. It is however still small. ESWsoftware's flagship product is TerraForm, a web forms tool which is used in a variety of languages all over the world. Several more products are on the way.

My goal [hi, Matthew here] is to produce useful software and sell it at a reasonable price. Once you have purchased a licence, it doesn't end there: let me know what you think, or what you'd like to see added. Users supply many of the best ideas, and sometimes bugfixes too! I continue to enhance released products and offer free upgrades to licencees.

ESWsoftware is based in Christchurch, New Zealand, a small island nation that is, contrary to popular opinion, not part of Australia. Since this is the antipodes, chances are that my summer is your winter, and my day is your night. Christchurch is a flat city, making it very suitable for both cycling and web development. Well, cycling anyway. [More about: Philip K Dick | New Zealand | Christchurch | cycling]
